Wylie adds Sage VAR to heaped basket

TSG makes sixth acquisition in nine months

By Sara Driscoll 26 Jul 2004

Technology Services Group (TSG), the VAR owned by former Sage founder Graham Wylie, has made its sixth acquisition in less than nine months.

The purchase of Glasgow-based reseller Clydeforth Digital Solutions (CDS) is TSG's fifth buy in 2004.

Nigel Hudson, group director at TSG, told CRN: "We acquired ISI in Glasgow in May, which had a huge Pegasus business, so we wanted to balance that with the Sage side from CDS."

Hudson said TSG did not suffer from integration problems. "All of our purchases remain with the same management and staff. We introduce the TSG brand and help with investment. They become more like regional TSG offices," he said.

Shaune Parsons, managing director of VAR Computer World Wales, said: "Acquisitions are a great way of growing your business if you have the money. But if I was a Sage or accounting VAR, I'd be worried."
