Finance director heads list for British Land CEO role

Internal candidates are scrutinised for CEO post

The hunt for a new chief executive of British Land has begun, with the current finance director heading the list of potential candidates for the post.

Current CEO Stephen Hester is leaving the property investors and returning to the banking industry to takecharge of the Royal Bank of Scotland, the Financial Times reported.

FD Graham Roberts has been tipped to replace Hester. He joined the company in 2002 as an executive director before taking on the FD role later that year. He was previously a senior real estate partner at Andersen.

Other candidates include Andrew Jones, head of retail, who joined the company in 2005 following its acquisition of Pillar Property, and Tim Roberts, head of offices, who joined in 1997 and was elected executive director in 2006.
