Axialis IconWorkshop 6.2

Icon manager with Vista support

Chris Wiles, vnunet.com 10 May 2008

IconWorkshop is a complete solution for anyone looking to create, manage, edit and distribute icons.

Compatible with all versions of Windows, including XP, it can create icons with the new smooth transparency format that this OS allows.

The program can read Windows icons (.ICO) and Macintosh icons (.RSC and .ICNS), along with icon libraries. Although it can read Macintosh icons it is unable to create them; instead it simply allows you to convert from Macintosh to Windows format.

Everything you need is instantly accessible, and a built-in thumbnail viewer lets you preview icons. Drag and drop helps makes the creation process easier, and all buttons are located in just the right place for an efficient workflow.

Some neat features include the ability to create icons from any image or screen capture. Also worth noting is the ability to create installation packages of your icons, making them ready for distribution.

Along with these main functions, IconWorkshop also includes a 'Customise Windows Icons' function, which provides an easy method of altering icon size/spacing, repairing/rebuilding icon cache and customising folder, start menu and desktop icons.

The latest v6 now contains support for creating Vista icons for the new operating system.
