The organiser of the International Information Industry Awards, VNU Exhibitions, has announced a major new award this year to honour the OneSource employees caught up in the attacks on the Sharm el Sheikh resort in July.
The Annalie Vickers and Jeremy Lakin Young Achiever Award will be presented at this year's awards ceremony on 30 November to a young information professional working in either an end-user organisation or an information vendor.
VNU Exhibitions said the main criteria for nomination will be finding individuals who are making a significant contribution to improve the quality of information products or improve the way that information is used and applied within an organization to improve business efficiency.
Nominees should also demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, persistence and teamwork. Nominations can be made through the main award nomination site, where the deadline has been extended by a fortnight (now Monday 17 October), at http://www.online-information.co.uk/ol05/awards.html.
The award is the fourth new category announced this year. Also making their debut are: Best Implementation of a Business Blog; The IWR Readers Award for Technology of the Year; and Best Team in a Scientific Environment.
In all, there will be 19 awards presented in 2005, including team, project, vendor and product categories, and awards recognizing individual achievement. Nominations for all categories are still open, and there are no nomination fees to pay, and only brief commendations are expected.
