Scirus to link to theses and dissertation collection

US theses database connects into Scirus

By Tracey Caldwell, Information World Review 09 Nov 2005

Elsevier’s science-specific search engine, Scirus, is to link to the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) collection.

Scirus will index the NDLTD content on scirus.com and power a search of the repository.

NDLTD, which is based at Virginia Tech in the US, is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the adoption, creation, use, dissemination and preservation of electronic theses and dissertations among students and academics.

It believes it offers the world’s largest digital library of theses and dissertations from academic institutions, aiming to cover all significant
graduate research results globally.

Scirus has indexed 200,000 theses and dissertations from NDLTD, in 12 languages, including English, Portuguese, French and Taiwanese. NDLTD results will be clearly branded on the Scirus results page.
