Fast tracks legal taxonomy

Legal information provider LexisNexis has agreed terms to provide its Taxonomy Solutions classification index to enterprise search specialist FAST Search & Transfer.

The deal means that customers using the Fast Enterprise Search Platform (ESP) will be able to use LexisNexis ( Click here for more on LexisNexis) proprietary taxonomies to improve the search quality within their organisation. Ali L Riaz, president of Oslo based Fast said, "This will allow our customers to put their data into categories identical to those of LexisNexis . "

Initially the agreement with FAST will include the “General News & Business” taxonomy and individual industry sector taxonomies. With the taxonomy integrated Fast ESP will organise corporate information according to the LexisNexis controlled vocabulary to create the metadata.

This is an extension of a strong technology and commercial relationship between Fast ( Click here for more on Fast) and LexisNexis parent company Reed Elsevier .
