Social Computing Forum set to jaw-jaw

IWR readers offered special discount for new one-day forum to talk about using wikis, blogs and RSS feeds in organisations

By Bobby Pickering 09 Mar 2006

A new forum for those interested in getting the most out of social computing technologies in corporates and other large organizations will be launched next month – and IWR readers are being offered a special early bird discount rate.

The Blogs & Social Media Forum will be held at the Hilton London Metropole on 17 May. It aims to break away from the traditional conference format to help maximise interaction and peer networking.

Organisers at the event's promoter VNU Exhibitions say that conferences need to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experience – and the interaction with peers makes this happen. "It’s all about engaging in the right conversations," said conference manager Lorna Candy.

The forum will be chaired by Euan Semple, a consultant who recently left the high profile position of Head of Knowledge Management at the BBC.

Other key speakers include Loic Le Meur, general manager of Six Apart, Ruth Ward, Head of Knowledge Systems and Development at Allen & Overy, and Christopher Barger, Blogger-in-Chief at IBM.

The event will examine the application of social media tools and technologies including blogs, wikis and RSS and the impact these are having on internal and external communication, collaboration and knowledge exchange.

A full conference agenda is available here.

IWR readers are being offered a special 10% discount off the standard Early Bird Rate (£350+VAT). If you wish to claim the additional discount rate (£315+VAT), contact Belinda Sprules on +44 (0)20 7316 9126, quoting "Special IWR Reader Rate".
