Ebsco visualises search with Grokker

Visual search mapping comes to Ebsco databases of journal and magazine content

By Mark Chillingworth, Information World Review 23 Mar 2006

Subscription and information database provider Ebsco has announced a new search service in association with Goxis, the enterprise search developer behind popular search tool Grokker.

Announcing the partnership the US based Ebsco said the Grokker Enterprise Search Management Platform would be integrated into the Ebscohost search platform, which provides access to electronic journals. Grokker users drill into the Ebsco databases of journal and magazine content by clicking through fields of data which are represented as maps. For example a search for the US will bring up New York as a potential route of research, which can then be clicked on for further details related to this subject.

Grokker has also introduced tools that enable the user to refine their search results using slide rule measures to alter the accuracy of search results according to keywords, publication date and full text.

Ebsco is adding the Grokker application to its Ebscohost service at no extra cost to existing customers ( click here for Grokker news).
