Wiley expands medical guides from Finland

Finish medical advice delivered in English language under new deal

By Mark Chillingworth 15 Jun 2006

Academic and medical publisher John Wiley & Sons has secured a long-term deal with Finnish medical publisher Duodecim Medical Publications, which will see the Evidence-Based Medicine Guidelines published in English.

Evidence-Based Medicine Guidelines (EBM) is a popular resource in healthcare and provides clinicians with guidelines which were developed by
general practitioners. The title includes 1,000 primary care practice guidelines, 2,300 evidence-based summaries, which back up the recommendations, and hundred of pictures.

Under the terms of the deal, Wiley will publish English-language versions of EBM on its Wiley InterScience online service and on the EBM website (www.ebm-guidelines.com/ebmg/ ltk.koti). Following on from the success Wiley has had with delivering the Cochrane Library onto Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), the publisher will also deliver EBM in PDA format.
