LexisNexis visualises increased workflow

Software will meet the needs for new Company Law Reform Bill

By Mark Chillingworth 04 Jul 2006

Legal and business information specialist LexisNexis Butterworths has acquired Leeds based workflow software company Visualfiles. The acquisition will enable LexisNexis to launch a major new information management tool for the forthcoming Company Law Reform Bill.

LexisNexis Butterworths has acquired Visualfiles for an undisclosed sum. Visualfiles, which has won the Queen's Award for Innovation, has a team of 150 people in Leeds and specialises in providing workflow software for conveyancing and personal injury cases.

As well as specialised legal applications Visualfiles produces software for banks, insurance and property companies; its customers include HBOS , Nationwide Building Society, the Pinsent Masons and Eversheds law firms.

"Visualfiles will strengthen our ability to combine proprietary content and technology," said Josh Bottemley, md LexisNexis Butterworths . With the Company Law Reform Bill set to come into force this autumn, LexisNexis will launch a Visualfiles application that is integrated into its content to enable company secretaries to complete the forms required, use a timeline driven process to comply with the Bill and receive detailed information. LexisNexis describe the Bill as "an ideal opportunity for workflow technologies to combine with legal and regulatory information".
