Legal publisher LexisNexis Butterworths has appointed an e-learning specialist to help the company develop new training products for its legal, tax and corporate clients.
Ann Hemming, currently the director for knowledge management and training at Welsh law firm Hugh James , will join in December.
She told IWR that law firms are increasingly looking towards e-learning as a cost-effective and flexible way of training their staff. “In my experience, law firms and other professional organisations are embracing technology,” she said. “It’s a way of making themselves more efficient, aiding risk-management and enhancing the client experience. Let’s face it, young professionals are used to using the internet for learning.”
Hemming’s role will be to develop new e-learning solutions.
The company’s new recruit was keeping tight-lipped about product launches, but said tools that could be used as part of a professional’s normal working day were high on the agenda. “Say a lawyer has got conveyancing work and is registering with the land registry, they might get something that will remind them of the rules and procedures as they go along,” she said.
