Pharmaceutical and biotech online information company Piribo has launched an e-commerce information service, ReportBuyer.com.
Rather than focus primarily on the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, ReportBuyer will act as an information aggregator for other online sources, and offer wider coverage of a range of industries.
By partnering with business information publishers and recommending reports and journals that are available, ReportBuyer can deliver information on the basis of user criteria.
Once the site has met a user’s search criteria, the service will provide an electronic version of a document for a fee. Book, directories and CD-ROMs’ are also linked to the site and available for sale.
Sectors covered include automotive, banking and finance, computing and engineering, energy and utilities, food and drink, and telecoms, as well as Piribo’s own sector of pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
Piribo said that ReportBuyer had the capacity to offer up to 40,000 information sources, and that it expected the site initially to supply around 10,000 business information-related products.
Piribo managing director Edwin Bailey told IWR that he saw ReportBuyer’s initial customers coming via search engines.
Unlike rivals such as Factiva, ReportBuyer requires no subscription and is more geared up to act as an e-commerce consumer site than as a licensed portal.
