Tribal open's Open Text arm

ECM vendor signs up consultancy to reach more customers

By Kim Thomas 09 Jul 2007

Consultancy firm Tribal is to widen its information management services to customers after teaming up with enterprise content management (ECM) provider Open Text.

The deal makes Tribal, which specialises in information and document management, a registered partner able to resell Open Text’s software. Tribal will be able to offer software and services that will support Open Text’s LiveLink product, such as document and records management, business process management, workflow and collaboration.

Darren Burchill, senior business development manager at Tribal, said that the company was planning to strengthen its relationships with a number of ECM vendors. “We have a number of consultants who have expertise in software implementation, architecture design and records management, so we can work with Open Text to upgrade their existing customers , or we can work with other vendors as well,” he said.

Tribal is a specialist in information and document management, with a strong customer base in the public sector, and in the oil and gas sector. It provides project management services and technology solutions, as well as advice on compliance issues such as the Freedom of Information Act , e-government and Sarbanes Oxley. Tribal is regarded by customers as independent, said Burchill, and it would continue to work with a number of vendors: “The deal with Open Text has given us some more information and products for our kit bag. We can install it, implement it, configure it and support it.”

The deal would also, he said, improve awareness of Tribal’s expertise in areas such as ECM and records management.
