The new Human Genomics and Proteomics (HGP) Open Access journal marks the first title to be released through a joint venture between Sage Publishing and the Hindawi Publishing corporation.
Publishing research on human genomics and proteomics, the journal will only be available online through a Sage-Hindawi platform. HGP is also affiliated with FINDbase; the national and ethnic mutation database that records varying degrees of gene mutation that lead to inherited disorders around the world. Datasets that are submitted to FINDbase will be peer-reviewed and if accepted, will appear in a dedicated section of the journal with an accompanying author written abstract.
Commenting on the launch joint editors in chief Dr George Patrinos with Dr Emanuel Petricoin said “As the first journal with an affiliated database in this discipline, HGP offers a unique opportunity to authors to open up access to their research to the widest possible community.”
The Sage-Hindawi Access to Research partnership is an agreement between both organisations to publish a series of Open Access journals in the fields of science, technology and medicine. David Ross, Business Development Manager, Sage said, “There is a growing body of research in this discipline and we believe HGP can occupy a unique position in the market. The combination of Sage’s editorial expertise and Hindawi’s experience of the Open Access model will provide a unique service to the academic community in this field.”
