ALT competition will reward innovation in learning technology

The Association for Learning Technology is launching two competitions in September to award innovative learning and teaching resources created under a Creative Commons Licence

The Association for Learning Technology (ALT), a professional and scholarly association, is launching two competitions in September to award innovative learning and teaching resources created under a Creative Commons Licence.

The first – the Annual Learning and Teaching competition- hosted by Jorum, will be held in conjunction with the ALT conference in Manchester between 8-10 September 2009. Professionals in the education and training sectors can apply until 3 July, 2009 and the winners will be awarded at the conference.

The second competition – the ALT-Epigeum Award will recognise the most effective use of video in an educational or training context and the winning entries will be also showcased at the conference.

The winner will receive a cash prize of £500 and will be provided with an opportunity to spend half a day meeting and learning from the Epigeum team, the specialists in online skills training programme in London. The closing date for entries for this competition is 19 June 2009.

Separately, the theme for the 2009 ALT conference is “In dreams begins responsibility – choice, evidence, and change”. It will bring together keynote speakers including Martin Bean, vice-chancellor designate of the Open University, Michael Wesch, Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Kansas State University, USA and Terry Anderson, professor and Canada research chair in distance education at Athabasca University, Canada.
